Mica Galvao's Heartfelt Reason For Starting BJJ Training: "Jiu-Jitsu Was Something He Never Missed"

At just 20 years old, Mica Galvao has already made a significant mark in the world of Jiu-Jitsu. His BJJ journey began when he was only two years old, a decision he took to deepen his relationship with his father, Melqui Galvao. Mica shared the motivation behind his introduction to Jiu-Jitsu training on the “Cage Talk” podcast:

My father didn’t spend much time at home due to his professional commitments.
To stay closer to him, I began practicing Jiu-Jitsu.

I was about two years old at that time, and he was a police officer in the Special Forces, often away on missions for up to a week.
He trained at night, and Jiu-Jitsu was something he never missed.

Eventually, I started attending adult classes, grew to love the sport, and here I am today.

Mica Galvao’s commitment and proficiency have garnered him significant achievements in Jiu-Jitsu. He holds the middleweight championship title of WNO (Who’s Number One). Additionally, he clinched a silver medal in the under 77kg category at the 2022 ADCC.

However, his victories have come with their own set of challenges.

That same year, he was stripped of his IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship crown. During the competition, a doping test revealed that he tested positive for clomifene and its byproducts.
