Parent Attack BJJ Referee During Tournament
Parents often have a strong emotional investment in their children’s activities, including sports like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. However, sometimes, their enthusiasm can go too far. The incident you’re about to witness goes well beyond the usual parental disagreements with referees, coaches, and other children.
This particular event involves a parent physically assaulting a referee during a BJJ competition. The incident took place at a Grappling Industries tournament. The referee is seen engaged in a conversation with someone when, unexpectedly, the other person initiates a takedown, causing the referee to tumble.
Spectators attempt to intervene and separate the two, but they seem to have difficulty doing so. No matter the situation, there is absolutely no excuse for such behavior at a competition, especially when children are involved.

A person who seemed to have observed the incident offered more information in a remark on the video. He specified that it wasn’t a parent who was involved but a different individual: It wasn’t a parent the coach was being a little loud over a match. The table worker asked him to chill. It’s only a kid’s match 2, and then they stood up. The tackler was the coach’s son. No parent was involved, and it wasn’t over missing points.
