Gordon Ryan’s Criticism On BJJ Practitioners For Training Hard

Gordon Ryan's Criticism On BJJ Practitioners For Training Hard

Indeed, BJJ training is so hard and challenging for the athletes. Mostly, the athletes feel exhausted after the rigorous training. Recently Gordon Ryan asked the players what they think about the training.

It is futile if the goal is to do the routine training without evaluating and learning. It is not all about getting sweaty and forcing yourself to go through the tiring exercises.

Gordon Ryan criticizes BJJ players who focus on training hard rather than self-analysis:

Everyone’s happy to come in and do the physical work. You know, hey come in, they train hard, they get a good sweat.

 They’re sore.

But the mental work is the hardest work. And nobody wants to do that.

You tell someone to come in and do, you know, three hard rounds and a hundred burpees. They’re, like: “Oh yeah, no problem.”

You tell them to sit down and figure out why this Armbar isn’t working. Why the mechanics aren’t right…

No one wants to do that.

So, that’s the most important stuff.

 It’s the mental work.
